PractiScore Interface (ForScore Connect)
ForScore Connect documentation (PDF)
Aug 7, 2016
Build 3.57 of ForScore includes the current version (1.03) of the ForScore Connect interface for
data exchange with PractiScore and for registration import from websites.
The website import does NOT import match payments, T-shirt orders, BBQ orders, etc.
This is the first general (non-beta) release. Thanks to those who have tested it the past
months!

No longer total vaporware, the interface is going out to a few beta testers today.
Functionality includes:
•
Create a match in PractiScore, register people, score match, import into ForScore to
generate results.
•
Create a match in ForScore, export to PractiScore, score match, import scores and any
walkons or registration changes back into ForScore.
•
Use a website (matchsignup.org, matchreg.com, practiscore.com) to register shooters
for a match, import registrations into ForScore. Then optionally export/import with
PractiScore.

The interface now has basic functionality - both for PractiScore import/export and also
importing from registration websites such as matchsignup.org.
The interface is a bit rough, but should be clean enough that I’ll be looking for a few beta
testers within the next couple of months.

This is actually morphing into a larger project to allow registration import from various websites.
Much of the code required for that website interaction is also useful for importing registrations
and shooters created in PractiScore.
Still no timeframe, but it’s not total vapor-ware.

A couple of people have asked, so here is the background and status on ForPractiScore.
There has been very little interest expressed in this by other users.
I developed a PARTIAL interface in 2014. (Called For<->Practi-Score)
It was limited to
•
Create match in ForScore and register shooters in ForScore
•
Export to PractiScore.
•
Score in PractiScore. Synch between PractiScore devices.
•
At the end of the match, import scores into ForScore to calculate match bumps and
generate results.
I had not developed the functionality to create new matches in PractiScore, register shooters in
PractiScore, etc.
This limited version was used by Greg Bell for the Music City regional match in October, 2014.
It has since been used by a few club matches.
Yes, a hybrid setup for a large match would be feasible - one “server” using the PractiScore
results and one “server” having results entered from paper score sheets, and using “Compare”
between the two systems.
I have not yet updated the existing partial interface to work with the 2015 version (3.5) of
ForScore. Status as of the last changes (Sept, 2014) is in this PDF.
Green WAS working before the 2015 rulebook. Pink was vaporware.
As mentioned, there has been only minimal interest expressed, so I don’t know when I’ll get
back to that project.
Nothing Else Going On
